Want to go viral?

Hi Reader,

A writer messaged me the other day on LinkedIn.

She was feeling frustrated and wanted help.

She asked me to review her LinkedIn posts.

She couldn’t understand why people weren’t commenting and sharing her posts.

She was a busy exec who knew what she was writing about.

Her content was good, but…

I could see the problem right away.

The writer used big words, lengthy sentences, and paragraphs.

Her last post read like a literary novel.

She also didn’t have a great first line or hook.

And the post image had nothing to do with the post itself.

I offered some constructive feedback. I gave her a list of hooks, too.

She used this editorial feedback to improve her content.

So what did I tell her?

If you’re writing for the web, write more like James Patterson and less like Ernest Hemingway.

Use everyday language.

Keep your paragraphs short.

Add a line break early and often.

And sweat the first line. Use a great hook.

Write on,
Bryan Collins

Hi Reader, You can create content to get paid. Or you can get paid to create content. It’s a subtle shift, but it’s a profitable one. For example, some creators write articles or create content for social media networks. They earn money from display ads like Google AdSense or get paid through Medium, YouTube, or Facebook partner programs. I followed this model for a few years. I mainly earned from ads. I also enjoyed a good run on Medium for a few years. This model for creators requires...

Hi Reader, Claude projects are a real time saver and, I believe, the ultimate content repurposing tool for busy creators at this time. If you're unfamiliar with the concept, a Claude project is pretty much the same as a ChatGPT bot. It's a way of providing context for your chats with your prompt and also with some sample data, for example, documents, text code and other files that you upload. So, I have a Claude project that creates viral headlines for me based on content I have already...
