Amateur vs Pro Writers
Hi Reader, I’ve noticed a big difference between amateur writers and Pro Writers…. perhaps because I worked like an amateur for years! Amateur writers work for free. They spend hours writing and publishing content without a plan for getting paid. They hope that writing all this free content will attract a client—any client. If it doesn’t, perhaps a partner program will pay out. Amateurs rely on an algo to reach readers, any readers. They track vanity metrics like follower counts, views, likes, reads and shares. They also spend hours shoehorning their content into pre-written templates and writing with AI because that’s what all the big gurus talk about. When amateurs finally land a writing gig, they spend their days working on boring projects, endless rewrites and fighting against unrealistic deadlines. Then, they end up chasing energy-sucking clients for unpaid invoices. Now Pro Writers… They make regular offers to their ideal clients and customers. Then… they get paid to write. Sure, they can use AI as part of their research process, but they don’t rely on it. But they’re FAR more interested in mastering evergreen skills like storytelling and copywriting. Pro Writers understand the risks of relying on algorithms like X or Google. So, they create assets for their businesses that work—even when they don’t. Two examples? They’re growing an email list for making daily offers. And they’re generating recurring revenue from a few reliable clients and businesses. Pro Writers also spend most of their working day building their writing business and not someone else’s. Or they take the day off because their business works even when they don’t. For years, I worked as an amateur writer. I wrote and published dozens of articles each month for clients that didn’t pay much, if at all. One editor even told me writing for him for free would “raise my profile”! I relied on social media algos to showcase my content to readers, and I tracked all the wrong vanity stats in my spreadsheet. I only got paid to write when I changed my approach. I built a system that works for me. Now, I earn a good living from my writing business, and I regularly take the afternoons and Fridays off. As part of my Pro Writers Only program, I am helping a select group of writers do the same. My goal is for them to extract an extra $5k from their businesses. My program isn’t for everyone. It costs $150 per week, and it’s only a good fit if you’re happy to do 3 things:
